Our Missions Team has several ongoing local ministries and missions.

  • New Scotland Food Pantry

FUMCV continually supports the New Scotland Food Pantry with donations of food and service. To contribute, drop off canned goods and/or dry goods such as paper towels or soap at the office basket or call the office to volunteer.

  • Direct Distant Aid

FUMCV is involved in many aid and relief efforts, such as helping victims of natural disasters rebuild regionally or in other states, or sending help to areas hit by natural disasters.

Contact us if you would like to participate in any of our activities. Keep an eye on our Weekly Announcements and Calendar to know about any current activities.

  • National & International Missions

While some of our church tithing goes to local charities and efforts, a portion gets passed up to the United Methodist Church General Conference where it is used for regional, national and even international charitable efforts.

  • Albany Crop Walk

This event usually takes place around the first of May. CROP Hunger Walks are community-wide events sponsored by Church World Service and organized by local volunteers to raise funds to end hunger.

Contact our Mission Team to find out how to participate or help sponsor this activity. Keep an eye on our calendar for when this event is scheduled.

  • Fair Trade

In support of the “fair trade” movement that benefits farmers in developing nations, on the third Sunday of each month, we offer products from the Equal Exchange organization, such as coffee, chocolate, and olive oil, for sale at our “Coffee Time” gathering in our community room after the worship service.

Equal Exchange’s mission is to build long-term trade partnerships that are economically just and environmentally sound, to foster mutually beneficial relationships between farmers and consumers and to demonstrate, through our success, the contribution of worker co-operatives and Fair Trade to a more equitable, democratic and sustainable world.
